Associate Professor Dr. Stephen P Becker

Stephen P Becker is Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. The overall objective of Stephen’s research is to better understand the developmental pathways of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), co-occurring psychopathologies, and functional impairments. Using a developmental psychopathology framework, he is especially interested in sluggish cognitive tempo, sleep problems, and internalizing psychopathologies which frequently co-occur and interact with, and impact the presentation and treatment of, ADHD across the life span. Stephen is also interested in nosology and models of psychopathology. Stephen has (co-)authored over 150 peer-reviewed papers and recently edited a book on ADHD in adolescence (Guilford Press). Stephen is also committed to training and mentorship, and to advancing diversity in the researchers, clinicians, and clinical and research populations in the fields of child and adolescent psychology and psychiatry.

In addition, in his role as Joint Editor at JCPP Advances, Stephen is eager to support authors presenting research in line with the journal’s name – making advances in child and adolescent psychology and psychiatry by publishing rigorous, innovative, theoretically-grounded and clinically-impactful research.
