This free webinar is open to all, and is organised by ACAMH’s Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Special Interest Group. The webinar will be led by Nora Trompeter, University College London, who will present an overview of research on bullying and victimisation, and how this impacts adolescent internalizing and externalizing problems.

About the webinar

Both adverse childhood experiences and bullying victimization are linked with mental health problems in adolescents. However, little is known about the overlap between the two factors and how this impacts adolescent mental health problems (i.e., internalizing and externalizing problems). This session will present data from a current study to estimate associations between ACEs, bullying victimization and mental health problems respectively, adjusting for sex, race/ethnicity, country of birth, household income, parental education, and study site, and discuss the implications for practice.

About the Speakers

Nora Trompeter

Nora Trompeter is a Research Fellow at University College London, Population, Policy & Practice Dept. She completed her PhD in Psychology in 2022 at Macquarie University where she examined the link between emotion dysregulation and adolescent eating disorder symptoms. Her research is focused on social and emotional risk factors for adolescent mental health problems, most notably eating disorder and anxiety symptoms.
