About the session

Children who have experienced sexual abuse have the right to high-quality support to recover from trauma and to access justice. The internationally-recognised Barnahus model seeks to provide this under one roof, via co-ordinated, multi-disciplinary, holistic care and support. As the first Barnahus service in England, the Lighthouse has gained key insights into adapting the model into its local and national context.

Meet the speaker

Laura Smith is the Clinical Lead for the Lighthouse at UCLH NHS Foundation Trust – England’s first Child House (Barnahus) service for children who have experience sexual abuse. Laura’s professional background is as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist working across children and young people’s mental health and safeguarding. She also holds professional leadership roles at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, as Trust Lead for Psychological Therapies and Children and Young People’s Head of Psychological Therapies.
