Anxiety – Increasing Understanding and Improving Awareness
Celebrating its twelfth year, Mental Health Awareness Week has chosen to focus on ‘Anxiety’ – to increase public understanding of anxiety and improve awareness of the impact it can have on lives. Everyone, in some shape or form, experiences anxiety. However, anxiety can become overwhelming and, in some cases, can evolve into an anxiety disorder.
This Mental Health Awareness Week (15 to 21 May 2023), we encourage you to explore the FREE learning opportunities available on our website, and to share with your networks, to increase people’s awareness and understanding of the impact of anxiety on children and young people.

Pedagogy is the method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept. This series gives teachers an incredible opportunity to take part in interactive expert webinars looking at how to teach key topics in school. This critical appraisal was undertaken by Information Scientist Douglas Badenoch and form part of the wider session for our informal journal club CAMHS around the Campfire. COVID & the impact on Mental Health of School Closures – CAMHS around the Campfire recording
For this session we welcomed Dr. Karen Mansfield, a postdoctoral research scientist from the School Mental Health Project, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford, to discuss her JCPP Advances paper ‘‘Covid-19 partial school closures and mental health problems: a cross sectional survey of 11,000 adolescents to determine those most at risk’’.
